It's not that big of a mystery. The majority of people like stupid shit. If that stupid shit includes them looking stupid while doing a combination of various dance moves, even better. Add completely stupid lyrics that everyone can remember and a great American superhero, Superman, you got a fucking hit.
I feel that DC Comics should sue on behalf of The Last Son Of Krypton for defamation of character. Johnathan and Martha Kent would have left poor little Clark in the fucking field if they knew he would be used in this way.
