Faces of Death 1978
I first watched this film when I was twelve. I had nightmares for
weeks. Nightmares about dying, of course. This film left such an
indelible impression in my mind that eight years later, when
presented with the option to purchase this movie, I jumped at the
chance. After the second viewing I no longer was frightened by
the film itself. The thing that scared me was the fact that I
paid 15 bucks for it. I somehow felt guilty, disgusted with
myself. But I watched the whole thing. No matter how bad I felt,
I just kept on watching. Granted, just because you can't turn
yourself away from what you're watching, doesn't always mean that
what you're watching is quality entertainment. This, by no means,
is quality entertainment. This is bottom of the barrel, no doubt
about that. But it's still in my collection and it's hands-down,
the most borrowed film out of my library.

This movie continues in the same vein as F.O.D. 1 with short
scenes of death related material
Okay...this sequel does have more of the same graphic violence
and gore as the first one...and all but 1 scene is real, not
faked, but still as a connoisseur of this type of thing, I didn't
"enjoy" this one as much, and I use the term enjoy loosely. These
things are not enjoyable viewing, but more of curiosity pieces,
and as that I found the first one to be a lot better, even if
several of the scenes in it were faked. Still, there is animal
slaughter, a shootout, an execution by firing squad, some stunts
gone awry, and a boxing match that ends in tradgedy, and alas,
the filmmakers cashed in even more, as this is not the last entry
in the "popular" series. "Fans" of gore and violence will still
have plenty to look at in this one and marvel in the brutality.

The "Faces of Death" series nearly hits rock bottom here, with
nothing more than one video taped re - enactment after another. A
lengthy sequence involving a supposed serial killer on the loose
in what was called 'a major city in the United States' goes on
forever and is obviously fake - why don't they ever mention where
this scene supposedly took place? I don't think that ANY of this
footage is real, except for the scenes in the slaughterhouse, but
you can watch the first movie to see that. The scene with the
serial killer/ rapist (played by the writer/ director John Alan
Schwartz) looks like it was filmed in someone's garage, and it
probably was actually. The tired, sickly looking narrator only
appears on screen for a few minutes in the entire movie, and his

Follows the same pattern of the other Faces of Death movies. In
this one we see many staged and not.
As a Pathology/Histology Technician I have the ability to both
see and experience the most saddest aspect of life, and that is
the passing of a fellow human being. As such, I think not only
should Faces of Death be revealed as it truly is, an insensitive
exploitation of those unable to speak for themselves, it should
also be banned for the violation of their rights as fellow human
beings. In the industry of death, we all hold dignity, respect
and compassion as our first priority to those who have crossed
over and that death being a personal experience should not be
mocked for the purposes of advancing ones own financial
interests...the producers should really contemplate their
intents, and people who are not registered Pathologists should
not call themselves as such.
