eh about this release

R E L E A S E I N F O R M A T I O N

In early 1976, Jackson 5 left Motown to sign
with Epic. When the legal battles finally
ended, Motown won a breach-of-contract
settlement and retained rights to the Jackson
5 name, forcing the group to become the
Jacksons. The Jacksons' first few records on
Epic were somewhat erratic affairs produced by
Philly soul legends Gamble & Huff. However,
the group truly assumed control over their
music and hit full stride on 1978's "Destiny",
which most regard as the strongest studio LP
the Jacksons recorded together in any
incarnation. "Destiny" was self-produced and
largely self-written, and its success helped
encourage Michael to return to solo work.
1979's brilliant "Off The Wall" made him a
star in his own right, signifying his arrival
as a mature adult artist, but he remained with
his brothers for the time being, helping them
record a Grammy-nominated follow-up to
"Destiny" in 1980's "Triumph".

1989's "2300 Jackson Street" became the final
gathering of the entire Jackson family, but
featured mostly Jermaine, Jackie and Randy.
The team of L.A. and Babyface, then emerging
as major producers, spearheaded the track
"Nothin (That Compares 2 U)", and the title
track "2300 Jackson Street" was a nice
autobiographical and family outing song
featuring Tito, Michael, Marlon, Rebbie, and
Janet (middle sister La Toya was at the time
of this album estranged from the family and
therefore didn't appear).

Holland-printed vinyl containing the lengthy
remix of "Nothin (That Compares 2 U)" produced
by L.A. and Babyface b/w "Alright With Me"
(lifted off the '2300 Jackson Street') and
rare Jacksons non-album outing "Please Come
Back To Me" written by Mike Dailey & Robert
Brookins and produced by The Jacksons.
